On Dry Cleaning

Don’t get your dry cleaning the minute it’s done. Let it remain at the cleaner’s for a few days. Dry cleaned apparel is dredged in substances that are terrible for you. The chemical compounds, according to the EPA, have been linked to brain challenges and cancer. Before you bring your clothes home you need to make sure that they are completely dry. If the outfits hasn’t yet dried completely, you run the danger of both breathing in those chemicals and transmitting them onto your skin. It’s also a good idea to use a dry cleaner that uses the more modern, non-toxic and environmentally friendly dry cleaning techniques.

Proper Ventilation

Keep your house ventilated! We know that you put in those new windows because you sought better control over your home’s temperature. But if you leave those windows closed all day and night, you’re raising your risk of breathing in the stuff you kick up as you walk around. Think about the dust mites that get stirred up whenever you vacuum and dust. The smoke and fumes that penetrate your house if you cook on the stove or with your oven don’t ever dissipate. Your shower’s steam will seep into your walls which could cause mold to form which you then breathe in and get sick from. Your fans should get turned on. Your windows should be open.
